Thanksgiving, Reflection, and Hard Decisions
I love Thanksgiving. I think it’s because there is no agenda. The day can be whatever you decide. Everyone just gets together to enjoy each other’s company and to remember all of the reasons we have to be thankful. It’s a nice time for reflection right before the rush of the holidays.
But sometimes that reflection brings the self-realization that another year is closing and we still have so many things on our someday lists.
Every year we resolve to change something – to have more adventures, take more risks, spend more time relaxing. But how often do we change?
Is this year going to be different?
It’s easy to think so, but it’s hard to do because to succeed you have to make some hard decisions.
Real decisions – life-altering decisions – have too many strings attached. There are too many what-if factors and too many people dependent on your choice.
And before you know it, another year goes by and nothing has changed. But it doesn’t have to. There is a way for you to quickly evaluate all of the what-if factors holding you back so that you can safely make any hard decision and move forward knowing that you picked the best option.
Today I am going to walk you through this framework. At first you may feel like it’s too black and white for your situation. But I urge you to give it a shot.
It takes less than 5 minutes to implement.
Chances are you have spent 50 times that agonizing over a hard choice you have to make. Why not try and see what happens?
